It’s election season and my snail-mail is full of flyers and postcards from candidates, mostly for Boise mayor and city council positions.

Can you see why, as a writer and editor, I’d have a hard time voting for the person who sent this one? Look closely.

In my office, cuddling a coworker is a daily necessity, so National Cat Day will be just like any other.

The Brassavola orchid typically blooms in spring or summer, but mine didn’t get the memo.

Its flowers burst open in early September and haven’t quit! They have a light, citrusy fragrance that peaks in the evening, which is why this orchid genus is sometimes referred to as the “lady of the night.”
