Five Tips for News Releases that Get Noticed

I am no longer a daily news reporter, but you’d never know it from my email inboxes. I get dozens of news releases every day from groups pitching story ideas. Some are well written, others not. But most have little to do with the topics I would even have covered, which brings me to my first point:

If it’s mid-May, you know where I’ll be a few mornings a week – in the kitchen at the tiny Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Boise, Idaho.

The women of the church are hard at work making the pastries for the Greek Food Festival, and they’re gracious enough to let this foodie and “aspiring Greek” participate.

“Forever” in Love with Stamps

This breathtaking image of Mt. Rainier by photographer Matt Dieterich is part of a series of new U.S. “Forever” postage stamps commemorating the national parks. It’ll be released at a June 2 ceremony at the World Stamp Show in New York City.
