A Fond Farewell

After much internal debate, I’ve decided to take down this website. The fact is, I’m working more than full-time in the news business and it’s been harder and harder to make the time to blog.

I’m embarrassed to note my frequency of blog posts has dwindled from two or three a month in 2016-2017, to a half-dozen last year.

Of course, I upended my life in 2023. Moving out of Idaho and getting reestablished in California has consumed a great deal of my time and energy.

It hasn’t helped that Tribute Media, the Idaho company that originally designed and hosted this site, apparently is now affiliated with another firm – California-based Hawke Media. In the process, the monthly maintenance fee pretty much doubled, for what amounts to next to no ‘maintenance’ at all.

But mostly, I’m not convinced anyone reads what I’ve written here. The only correspondence I get from the site lately seems to be from people trying to sell me Virtual Assistant or web redesign services.

I’ve been copying each and every blog post since 2016, to have a record of this endeavor. Someone, someday, might want to know what I was doing or thinking – or at least, which orchids were blooming in my collection.

I’m planning to keep the website up until May 1 – at least, I’ve paid the maintenance fee until then. I’m reading lots of online advice about how to properly shut down a website. It looks complicated. Wish me luck!

In the meantime, I’ll still be on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/christhomasco/

It’s been a good run for this little site. Nine years! Time to move along.
