Getting Off the Dime (or the Couch)

It’s been about a month since I began my mostly-stay-at-home stint, venturing out only for the occasional errand.

I have plenty to do around the house and yard, but am finding – not only in my life, but in conversations with friends and neighbors – that many of us are mired in an odd sort of quicksand.

We aren’t making much headway on the to-do lists, and we don’t have good excuses for our inaction.

The Joys of Keeping a Journal

I’ve journaled off and on throughout my life and the last few years, I’ve been in the ‘on’ mode.

There are plenty of cool journals set up so that you don’t even have to write much. I like the size and feel of My One Line a Day, published by Chronicle Books. It’s supposed to last three years, but for me, a single page is the perfect size for daily use.

Learning a New Language

I’m editing a ton of news stories nowadays about the new coronavirus, which means I’ve had to quickly learn the particulars of the language used to correctly describe it.
